Please introduce yourself. What are your role and responsibilities?
My name is Alhasan Aldasooqi, and I am a seasoned professional with 14 years of experience in the field of product design. I am a 35-year-old individual with a diverse background, originally from Palestine but currently based in Turkey and soon to be relocating to Taiwan. In addition to my expertise in product design, I am also a skilled photographer and content creator. I am excited about the opportunity to continue growing my career and expanding my skills in a new environment.
As a senior product designer at Kinetik, I’m responsible for understanding users and designing products tailored to their needs and wants. My goal is to deliver the overall look, feel, and functionality that fits our brand. A design product job requires me to collaborate with other designers, developers, QA engineers, marketing people, and other stakeholders. Together with my design colleagues, I create sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to visually communicate my design ideas. My work also involves managing multiple projects simultaneously and reviewing and providing feedback to other designers.
A large part of my work is dedicated to continuously monitoring the market trends and the performance of our products and making improvements where necessary.
How did you get started in UX design? What was your career path?
My background is in financial management and banking, but my passion has always been in the design field. Despite facing challenges in joining traditional design schools due to complex circumstances in my country, I was determined to pursue my dream. I took matters into my own hands and began learning through online design courses and resources. I dedicated a significant amount of time to mastering the fundamentals of design, specifically UI design, front-end development, and video editing. I made significant progress and even started providing training courses for students, which was a successful venture for me.
Later on, I began freelancing online, delivering various projects and building a strong portfolio. This led to my first remote contract with a Saudi agency, where I worked on a variety of projects. I later moved to Egypt and lived there for almost 7 years, where I introduced myself to the community and formed many friendships and collaborations.
While living in Egypt, I had the opportunity to work with two startups, where I gained valuable experience in startup life. I then received an offer to move to Turkey to work on an exciting new product, an English learning platform called iStoria, targeted at the Middle East market. I eagerly accepted the opportunity and joined the team in Turkey. We worked tirelessly to create an incredible product, and I spent a significant amount of time researching, learning, and developing the platform. Our efforts paid off, as the startup successfully raised a pre-seed fund.
